THE RULES OF THE FIGHT.

THE DEAL

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of mtcstw.com and related services operated by The Propaganda Factory (“we,” “us”) — including the site, the PWA, and the MTCSTW API. By using the site, you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, don’t use the site.

THE SERVICE

We provide tools for research, content creation, and organizing: Karl (AI research assistant), the Ghoul Index, bounties, XP and ranks, cells, Creator Studio, Translate, Price Detective, Slumlord Dossier, data modeling, and community features. The service is provided free of charge. We may add, change, or remove features at any time.

ELIGIBILITY & YOUR CALLSIGN

You must be 13 years or older to use this site. You register with a callsign — a pseudonymous username. Your real name is never required.

• Pick a callsign that isn’t someone else’s name used to impersonate them, and isn’t hateful or harassing.
• You’re responsible for what happens under your callsign. Don’t share access.
• One human, one primary account. Sockpuppets for vote manipulation get burned.

ACCEPTABLE USE

This is a weapon pointed at concentrated power, not at each other. You agree not to:

• Harass, threaten, or dox other users — pseudonymity is sacred here.
• Spam, scam, or flood the site with junk submissions.
• Submit falsified data (fake prices, fabricated violations) — the whole machine runs on receipts. Poisoning the well is the worst thing you can do here.
• Attempt to breach, scrape at abusive volume, or disrupt the service.
• Scrape or automate bulk data collection in a way that degrades service for others. Want bulk data? Use the API — that’s what it’s for.
• Probe other users’ accounts, API keys, or private endpoints.
• Use the service for unlawful activity.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules, with or without warning depending on severity.

YOUR CONTENT

Your content stays yours. Memes, photos, price submissions, writing — you own what you make. By submitting content to the site, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display, distribute, and create aggregated or derivative works from it (for example, folding your price photo into regional pricing data or featuring your meme in the feed).

You can request deletion of your content at any time via mtcstw@gmail.com. Aggregated, anonymized data derived from many users’ submissions (e.g., “average milk price in Louisiana”) cannot be un-aggregated and is not deletable per-user.

Don’t submit content you don’t have the right to share. Don’t submit other people’s private information.

The Content Bank principle: user submissions become part of the movement’s data pool — the shared pool we build power from. There is no payment and no splits for submitted content; you’re contributing to the movement, not selling us inventory. In return, your content is never sold as ad inventory and never becomes someone else’s product.

Moderation: we can remove or refuse to publish content that violates these Terms — spam, falsified data, doxxing, hate, or anything that poisons the well. Removal is at our discretion; repeated violations cost you the account.

THE API

The MTCSTW API gives developers programmatic access to our datasets and endpoints. API use is governed by these Terms plus the full API Terms — the short version:

• Free and paid tiers with monthly call quotas; exceeding quota returns HTTP 402 until you upgrade or the month resets.
• Attribution required on the free tier.
• No reselling our raw data as a competing data API. No FCRA-prohibited uses (see below). No re-identifying anonymized donors or individuals.
• Service is as-is on all tiers except Enterprise.
• We can suspend or revoke API keys for abuse, quota fraud, or Terms violations.

Read the API Terms before building on us. They’re binding.

NO FCRA USES

Our datasets are not consumer reports under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. You may not use our data — or anything derived from it — for decisions about credit, employment, housing, or insurance eligibility. No tenant screening, no hiring screens, no lending models, no insurance underwriting. If your product touches any of those, our API isn’t for you.

CAMPAIGN-FINANCE DATA

Some of our datasets derive from FEC filings and other public records. Individual donor identities are withheld from our datasets and API, consistent with 52 U.S.C. § 30111(a)(4), which prohibits using FEC-sourced information for solicitation or commercial purposes. Commercial API users must not attempt to re-identify anonymized donors or cross-reference our data to unmask individuals. Violation is grounds for immediate key termination and a permanent ban.

XP, BOUNTIES & RANKS

XP has no cash value. It cannot be purchased, transferred, sold, or redeemed for money, and we may adjust XP balances to correct errors, fraud, or exploits. Bounties are missions with XP rewards, not employment and not a promise of payment in any currency. We may change XP mechanics, caps, and bonuses at any time — the economy serves the movement, not speculators.

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

The site’s design, code, branding (including MTCSTW and The Propaganda Factory marks), Karl, the Ghoul Index, and Lux are our property or our licensors’. You may share and remix site content for non-commercial movement purposes with attribution — that’s literally what it’s for. Don’t sell it, don’t strip the attribution, don’t pretend you’re us.

THIRD PARTIES

The site links to third-party sites and embeds third-party content (including payment processing via Stripe). We’re not responsible for what third parties do with your data — read their policies. Our data sources are public records; we present them with receipts, but we don’t warrant that any third-party dataset is complete or error-free.

DISCLAIMERS & LIABILITY

The service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. Karl’s answers are generated from data sources that can contain errors; always verify before you act on them — the receipts are there so you can. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us — which, for a free service, is zero.

Nothing on this site is legal, financial, or medical advice. It’s propaganda and data. Act accordingly.

TERMINATION

You can leave anytime — stop using the site and request deletion of your data (see Privacy Policy). We can suspend or terminate your access for violations of these Terms. Sections on content licensing for already-aggregated data, disclaimers, and liability survive termination.

CHANGES TO THESE TERMS

We may update these Terms. Material changes get posted here with a new effective date and flagged in the feed. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
